RoKö Emblem Logo

Here is the latest state of the emblem logo. I like flat colors like in the upper one, but it also works in black and white. The fuzzy feel that comes from drawing with a marker is nice because it reminds of a print from a stamp.
Pencil and mouse refer to my work both analog and digital.

Baby Jesus of all Nations

This image is ready for stencelling. If you'd like to get it in HiRes - let me know. The way this was thought is that you give the baby different skin color each time so to make him African, Asian ...

RoKö (Logo)

This is my logo as an illustrator for the time being. I'm sure it will change sooner or later, since making logos is a lot of fun and I already have more ideas in mind. I like that it spells out "RoKö" well and shows a face with big eyes (or even glasses like me :)

Here is a version that shows the two dots over the letter ö instead of the abstract single one. This way, the eyebrows of my face gets emphasized and the logo gains symmetry. I still like the upper one better because it is easier to read. I don't mind the asymmetry in it.

Here are some color variations. I think the blue eyes communicate better as eyes. But I don't have blue eyes, infact my eyes are an "uncolor". They are something between green and grey, which I am getting at in the upper two logos.

This is a more simplyfied approach than I had with most of these. It's simple enough to cut my own stamp from an eraser.

Those accustomed to "Umlauten" (see Ö and Ä on the keyboard in the back) might be able to read it as RoKö. If you just see RoKo or even RK, I'm fine with that as well...

"micro"-size logo (click the image for "mini"-size logo):

Here is some improvement in terms of shape and readability:
The mini-version above reveals that the type could be mistaken as P(dot)V(dot) if the logo is seen from afar or in small sizes.

Eye of the Illustrator (Logo)

This is a logo I did for an illustrator whos initials are C.N. :
The colored version on top is the final. Beneath a minmalist version, the black and white version and preliminary process.

This is a logo I designed for a brass ensemble with five musicians.

Drowning in Barcelona

This piece of mine got published in CANDY magazine quite a while ago. (Fall 2007) But here it is anyway. It tells the story of me and my sister being almost washed away from the surface of the earth. I'm not kidding - it was real dangerous!

Logo in Progress

Here is a recent list of logos I am working on for myself. At the end they should all be flat b&w, so that I can make stamps from them. The "Roman Animal" is an insider in courtesy of my Bostonian roommate Lars Tank.

Roman Köller, Offenbach, Germany

For those of you who would like to see some photos of the physical surrounding of this digital site: Welcome to Offenbach.

All of this happens within clear view range from the window. It's almost like watching a movie.

A ship passing by.

Dozens of sea gulls floating on the river.

Promenaders feeding swans.

Anitques market with well equipped fine-arts section.

And Oktoberfest coming to town.

But, not all is idyllic here. We are getting an ugly shopping mall, rather a shopping bunker, which will wrap around this house built in traditional framework style.

Seeing this picture above, I can't help but think of Wu Ping's house left on a pillar of soil in a pit in Chongquing, China.

"Boonie 2" - logo for a washed-up rider

This is a logo stamp I made for one of my sisters. As each of my sisters calls the other one "Boonie" it is easy to know for them who is being referred to ("not me", respectively "the other one"). For all other people, the numbering Boonie 1 and Boonie 2 clarifies the addressee. This is Boonie 2, obviously the younger one.

The illustration refers to a situation when she was riding on a pony as a child. The pony didn't quite obey her and ran around disregarding the fact that it had a rider ontop. When it went unter a barrier, it stripped off the saddle. Boonie found herself hanging on the pony's neck.

A print:

A colored version:

This is another version, where the Danish flag serves as the barrier. (The whole thing happened on the beach in Rømø, Denmark):

And some preliminary sketches:
