images for Fulbright

Mutual Understanding through Academic and Cultural Exchange.

I made these images for the German-American Fulbright Commission. The b/w version was used last year for the information folder for new scholarship holders.

The color version I did for fun just now. Here is a lucky coincidence: At first, I had the American shilhouette filled only with stripes. Somehow, I felt, I had to incorporate at least one star with respect to the Star Spangled Banner. So where should I place it? I moved over to the German puzzle piece and placed it in the top section. Here is the miracle: It approximates the location of Berlin! This is where the German-American Commission is headquatered.

Here is the complete cover illustration from last year:

This year, I kept it more loose and open. Regarding the fact, that the students are using it for three days, there are more things to discover rather than simply read off the page. I enjoyed a loose drawing on the cover, when I was a scholarship holder in 2006/07 myself.
